WINTER SHOOTING DAYS FOR "THE MAN IN THE BOX"
Arsen's fourth feature film, this time in English, a UK-Croatian coproduction based on the book “The Man in the Box” by American writer Thomas Moran, started filming on location near Innsbruck in Tirol (Austria) in mid-December. This is a touching coming-of-age story about a teenager living in a remote village high in mountains in Tirol during WW2, imbued by Nazi ideology, whose family hide a refugee physician in their barn. At the moment, the cast consists of well-known British and German actors: the lead role of the teenager is played by John Bell (“Hobbit”). His father, Martin, is played by Thomas Kretschmann (“King Kong”, “The Pianist”, “Valkyre”, “Avengers”). His mother, Liese, is played by Martina Gedeck (“Life of Others”, “Baader Meinhof Complex”). His love interest, Sigi, is played by Celine Buckens (“War Horse”). Filming will continue in the Spring of 2015, after the snow melts, on locations in Austria, as well as in Italy, near Bressanone. The UK production company is Evergreen Productions Ltd., the coproduction company from Croatia is GripFilm d.o.o. and the sales agent is Parkland Pictures from London.
